Wild Kingdom, At Home

Remember "Cows on Parade" inChicago from 1999? (Yes, it’s been that long!) I was totally smitten by thecreative ways the artists dressed up their bovine friends and let them paradedown the streets of the city.

Now I’mseeing more and more large-scale animal sculptures popping up in our homes andgardens - though I haven’t see any cows. Yet.I supposeit was only a matter of time before the natural and organic trend progressedfrom colors, textures and natural materials to giraffes, hippos, and sheepgrazing indoors or in the back yard. Some people do it because they arepassionate about protecting wildlife, others are trying to bring nature insideand others want a little bit of "Wild Kingdom" in their décor.

Some arewall mounted or are small enough to perch on a table.  Others are fullsize and pose on all four paws, or hooves!I think ananimal sculpture is a lot of fun in a foyer, on a patio or in a garden orgarden room, but they can work in main living areas, too.  For clientsfrom South African we showcased some of their extensive collection of animalsculpture from Africa, including a hippo, a giraffe and some elephants.Thankfully none of them is life-size!
