Boring doors? No more!

June 14, 2016

Updating interior doors can make a huge impact on any home.

Updating interior doors can make a huge impact on any home. The architectural punch of raised or recessed panels, decorative moldings or windowed doors is only part of the package. Hardware options are almost limitless and so are colors. After browsing through my favorite sources I have put together a collection of interior door options that may inspire you to take your doors from so-so to so-wow!

These gleaming black doors – interior and exterior – are striking contrast for the white walls, drapes and area rug. I love the way they continued the black theme in the banister, accent table, chair and even the curtain tie-back to pull everything together.

I’m seeing many fresh ideas for French doors, but these mullioned doors caught my eye because the curvy lines of the windows are so flirty and fun.

Gray is still a sizzling hot color in home décor and it’s working like a charm in this cozy entryway, where the gray door partners with a smoky settee.

In this sophisticated and feminine vignette the criss crossed “barn” style doors inject some rustic playfulness. Did you notice the “X” carving on the corner of the table?  Now that’s attention to detail!

If you're looking for sunny color, this recessed panel pocket door is riveting and fun. It’s always a good idea to pick up that color somewhere else in the room, as they have done here with the striped rug.

I absolutely couldn’t resist adding these lacy, shutter-like doors to my collection of interior door photos. They’re made from antique Indian screens that are so feminine and detailed, but not frou-frou.  Who wouldn’t love to get ready for the day in this elegant dressing room?
