Craving Chocolate (Cabinets, That Is)

August 8, 2014

Dark chocolate, milk chocolate or semi-sweet: I’m an incurable chocoholic so it makes me happy (and hungry) when I see so many kitchen cabinets being painted in these delicious warm tones.

Dark chocolate, milk chocolate or semi-sweet: I’m an incurable chocoholic so it makes me happy (and hungry) when I see so many kitchen cabinets being painted in these delicious warm tones. Besides, what better place for chocolate than the kitchen?

White cabinets have been red-hot for many years now, but brown painted cabinets are winning fans too. Why?

Brown-paintedcabinets work beautifully with almost any color palette, including greys and neutrals, so they won’t limit or date your house. You can finish them with a high-gloss glaze and pair them with a lighter countertop for a professional look that’s warm and welcoming. With so many kitchens opening to other space sit’s important that the cabinets work with the colors in those rooms, and chocolate tones won’t interfere.

You’re probably wondering, why not just go with stained wood? Many kitchens already have stained hardwood floors. If you add stained wood cabinets it’s just too much wood grain and lumber. Painted cabinets introduce a different texture to the room.

Of course I never recommend following a trend just because it is the flavor of the month. You’re going to live with your kitchen for a long time, so look at these photos of brown cabinets and see if they feel right for you. If you develop a craving for chocolate, you know where to find us!
