Hand-Painted Leather Pizzazz

Talk abouta fabu fabric – we are crazy about the hand-painted leathers from Italianarchitect and artist Selvaggia Armani at Connecticut-based Edelman Leather,which is one of our go-to sources at the Merchandise Mart for high-endupholstery. Leather is such a luxe material, and when you add one ofSelvaggia’s bold, sometimes whimsicaldesigns, be readyto make a statement in your home! I’mhoping to utilize herdesigns for the backs of dining room chairs and for floor and wall tiles.

Selvaggiabegan collaborating with Edelman early this year, and her "Flowers" patternalready is a finalist for an Interior Design Best of the Year award.

She has beenmanufacturing her own brand of textiles and clothing since 1997, and sheestablished Selvaggia Armani Handpainted in 2013, which produces leatheraccessories and ceramics. Of course, I couldn’t resist purchasing one of herlittle pursesat the Edelman showroom,and I have been using it nonstopwithcompliments abounding!  It’s a teeny little tote, perfect for storing mySweet Peas Design pad of paper, my checkbook, keys and a credit card holder.I’ve taken it everywhere and have worn it with a pair of hair-on-hide cheetahflats.
