I’m writing this from my hotel inNew York and I still can’t believe that I  sat in the audience yesterdayduring taping of the Meredith Vieira Show and got a "shout out" from Meredithfor my part in making a wish come true for Waukegan artist and father DrewDavis and his children.

(TheMeredith segment  airs at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, on WMAQ/Channel 5.)

I flew out along with Drew and his sister, Amy Davis Fahey, after the "big reveal" last weekend at Drew’s house, which the team at Sweet Peas Design updated for a segment of NBC’s "George to the Rescue."

(It airs at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3.)

Me with Drew and Amy out on the town

Meredith, who selected Drew for a home renovation through her "Wish Booth" initiative, discussed the project on-air with him, Amy and George Oliphant from "GTTR", andafter the show she waved me over from the audience to say hello. What a thrill! She’s been on my 'must-meet' list forever, and she’s exactly the way I imaginedher - so gracious and warm.  Many thanks to her and her producer, AnneRadecki, and Andrew Scerbo and Kristin Kropp,  producers of "George to theRescue," for the opportunity to share the excitement. Ofcourse, the greatest reward has been the chance to give back to someone in ourcommunity.
