Old Town Art Fair 2019
July 10, 2019
Susan's recap of the 2019 Old Town Art Fair in Chicago - discover her favorite new artists, returning artists, and home on the Garden Tour!
This past Sunday, I attended the Old Town Art Fair, now in its 70th year with friends Marigale and Julie. With over 250 juried artists, I reconnected with artists I have previously purchased from and met some fabulous new artists! A few of my new favorites: Janina Tukarski Ellis, Bran Kuehn, H.C. Porter, Joseph Graci and David Skinner. I think a girls-weekend fall trip to Vicksburg, MS is necessary to visit H.C.’s studio. Luke Proctor, a blacksmith, had lovely refined yet rustic metal side and occasional tables. If you are looking for Chicago artists and or Chicago inspired art, Chuck Meyers and Ali Hasmut’s work was also striking. And of course, my favorite home on the Garden Walk was once again 1847 Orleans! Jeff Peters and David Young’s front garden and courtyard should not be missed. The color palette of purple, orange and chartreuse annual and perennial flowers, shrubs and grasses combined with their fountain, hardscape and coach house are drool-worthy and really make me miss digging in the dirt of my own garden.
