Interior Architecture and Design Renovation
City Dwelling for a New Bachelor
Design No. 1536
Our client, an urban single dad, wanted his three-story home in Chicago to be comfortable for him, his two college-age sons and his friends. A die-hard sports fan, he requested a renovation that was masculine and laid-back, luxe but not over-the-top. Accordingly, our design favored more angles and edges than curves. We gave him the comfortable luxury he desired by suspending the fireplace, creating a grand entrance and adding custom furnishings and finishes. His passion for sports played out with favorite team emblems etched in glass, a second closet for team jerseys, a beer fridge within reach of his bed and a game room with pool table. Topping it all off, in his words, he wanted “a kickass deck,” with an open-air kitchen and plenty of seating areas for entertaining.

Before I started working with Studio Brunstrum, every house I bought, I had to fit the house. Now I have a house that fits me… that’s what you did. You got to know me – that’s your secret – and you gave my place “comfortable sophistication.” You were worth every penny.
