Renovated City Condo

Interpretations on the Circle of Life

Design No. 1009

Susan Brunstrum came full circle when she moved into her urban Gold Coast Chicago condo after living in suburbia for 25 years. Her circuitous journey became the primary design theme of her new home. First, she changed the vibe in the space by updating all lighting, darkening the hardwood floors, outlining the ceilings with dark grey crown molding and replacing door hardware.  In the kitchen and bathrooms, she freshened the existing cabinets with paint and new hardware and countertops. Then she integrated the circle theme with a prominent, round ceiling soffit in the dining area, circular cabinet trim and penny-round tile accents.  A refined neutral palette ensured a sophisticated, relaxed air for an escape from the fast-paced city life lying nine stories below.
